Who's Who

Ben BEN KWELLER, born June 16th, 1981 was a natural when it came to music. At the age of 3 he would pick up his toy guitar, and imitate his dad's friend NILS LOFGREN. Nils was playing lead guitar for BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN at the time. Ben loved watching MTV videos and imitating the rock and roll music he saw. By his 8th birthday, Ben was writing his own rock and roll songs.

At age 9, Ben won an honorable mention in BILLBOARD MAGAZINE's annual songwriters contest. At 13, he was much better than his dad on guitar, and pretty darn good on the drums too. He always wrote his music on the piano, however. His first band was called MIRAGE, then came GREEN EGGS & HAM followed by FOXGLOVE. Eventually RADISH was formed with drummer JOHN KENT.

Ben had the experience of a lifetime when his lifelong friend, NILS LOFGREN, asked Ben to join him onstage for a finale number at a recent Houston concert. Ben Kweller has written most of the original music and lyrics that comprise RADISH's extensive repertoire. Recently, he and John have collaborated on some new material.

John Drummer JOHN KENT knew he hit onto something great when he met Ben Kweller. John was born June 6, 1979. At age 3 John received his first toy set of drums. He exhibited tremendous, natural rhythm. His father, also an accomplished musician, encouraged his son to pursue music. John began studying piano and drums at an early age; he continues to study percussion with his drum instructor. By the age of 13, he and Ben were ripe for setting out to make rock and roll their lifelong career.

The young artists have created their own sound and have an uncanny, intuitive rapport with each other that is hard to achieve by groups twice their age.

RADISH signed a recording Contract in July 1996. Their first album under the Mercury label was released in April 22, 1997. The new album was recorded at SHEFFIELD STUDIOS, a premier 24 track studio in Baltimore, Maryland.
